About Shinsui Itō's Art
Shinsui Itō was the pseudonym of Itō Hajime. He was a Nihonga painter and ukiyo-e woodblock printer. Nihonga are Japanese paintings from about 1900 onwards using traditional Japanese artistic conventions.He was one of the great names of the shin-hanga art movement, which revitalized the traditional art after it began to decline with the advent of photography in the early 20th century.
