About Edgar Degas' Art
Degas was an innovator in his use of color. He often favored harmonious and muted color schemes, and his work frequently features delicate pastel hues. He was also one of the first artists to experiment with impressionist techniques, using short, quick brushstrokes to capture the fleeting effects of light and color.Themes of dance, music, and urban leisure activities figure prominently in Degas' work.
